Frequently Asked Questions
Fabrication, Design and Installation
What is the difference between Porcelain and Sintered Stone?
The term ‘Sintered Stone’ is used by numerous manufacturers to refer to a specific part of the production process, whereby minerals are melted and solidified at high temperatures. This process, which requires no binders, may be relevant to several raw materials compositions, including that of Porcelain.
This process is not exclusive, nor is the term ‘Sintered Stone’. It is also not a testament or claim to a better product. Any claim related to better performance and/or easier fabrication should be tested carefully before making any assumptions.
Caesarstone Porcelain has one of the best proficiency claims for cutting and has been adopted by leading fabricators globally. Caesarstone surfaces undergo rigorous fabrication testing and are renowned for excellent fabrication outcomes and quality.
Where can I match my colours to my Caesarstone®?
Our Caesarstone Experience Center located at Suntec City have large panels of the entire colour range. Our displays allow you to bring in samples of cabinetry, tiles and other materials and make accurate colour and design matches so that you are confident you are achieving the look you want. For showroom location and operating hours, view Our Showroom Location.
Can I fabricate my own Caesarstone®?
Caesarstone® should only be fabricated by a professional stonemason who is experienced in working with our product and is familiar with the Caesarstone® fabrication process to ensure that the 25-Year Warranty is not voided.
Can Caesarstone® be used around a fireplace?
Caesarstone® is heat resistant, however like all stone materials, Caesarstone® can be damaged by sudden and rapid surface temperature changes.
For use in fireplace applications, Caesarstone® needs to be treated more like a decorative feature and should never be used in the firebox or hearth of the fireplace. You should always consult with the manufacturer of the fireplace to ensure that the maximum heat does not exceed Caesarstone®’s recommendations.
Can Caesarstone® be used as a splashback behind a sink?
Yes. Caesarstone® is ideal for kitchen splashbacks offering continuity of bench top colour. It is a perfect solution for preparation and wet zones.
Can Caesarstone® be used in food preparation areas?
Yes. Caesarstone® surfaces are virtually non-porous and are perfectly suited for kitchen areas, or wherever food is prepared, as they greatly reduce the potential for bacterial growth. Caesarstone® surfaces are free of mould and bacteria. Endorsed by the Public Health and Safety Company (NSF) in accordance with international NSF 51 sanitary standards, Caesarstone® surfaces are industry approved for installation in hospitals, restaurants, hotels and more.
Can Caesarstone® be used with an induction cooktop?
Whilst Caesarstone® surfaces are suitable to use with an induction cooktop, it is important to refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for correct installation of your induction cooktop in regard to ventilation near or around the perimeter of the cooktop to provide airflow to fans within the cooktop unit.
Can Caesarstone® be installed behind a gas cook top?
Yes. Note that a minimum 200mm distance is required from the periphery of the gas burner to the Caesarstone Mineral™ splashback.
Can a Caesarstone® benchtop be installed on any kitchen cabinets or carcasses?
A Caesarstone® benchtop should be installed on kitchen cabinets with sturdy legs or plinth support, which when they are all fixed together must be all of the same level (not twisted), flat and firmly installed to ensure there is no movement once the Caesarstone® benchtop is installed.
It is very important that all cabinets are constructed to fully support the weight of the Caesarstone® benchtop, and for this reason it is essential that the cabinets have full perimeter rail support which must not bend or sag under the weight of the Caesarstone® benchtop regardless of cabinet width.
When fitting cooktops or sinks which will sit within cut-outs in a Caesarstone® benchtop, the strength and stiffness integrity of the perimeter rails must not be compromised.
Do I need to have support for my breakfast bar?
We always recommend support or brackets for any overhang that is greater than 300mm with a 20mm thick slab and legs, columns, or panels for any overhang greater than 500mm. These recommendations are made on what would be considered normal use of a kitchen benchtop and likely weight loading.
With additional engineering and weight bearing support taking the full weight of the Caesarstone® surfaces, anything is possible and should be discussed with your designer.
Can Caesarstone® be used as flooring?
No. Whilst some customers have opted to use Caesarstone® as flooring, this type of application is not covered by the Caesarstone® 25-Year Warranty.
Can Caesarstone® be used in a bathroom?
Yes. Virtually non–porous, waterproof and mould and mildew-resistant make Caesarstone® ideal for bathroom applications. Large slabs provide a sleek and modern aesthetic, minimising joins and maintenance. View our Inspiration Gallery to see more bathroom applications
What is the best edge treatment?
Many edge profiles are possible through to laminated double thickness edge and mitred apron options, which can be fabricated by a stonemason using exclusive Caesarstone® colour matched glues.
Our minimum suggested edge detail is a 3-4mm radius on any profile. A better option is a 6mm radius. The larger the radius, the more resistant it will be to accidental impacts from heavy objects.
Sharp non-radiused edge profiles should never be used.
Is Caesarstone® safe to remove?
Caesarstone® surfaces can be easily and safely removed when renovating or demolishing.
We recommend that removal be performed by a professional as there are technical aspects to consider, such as how to handle heavy surfaces and prevent damage to cabinets when removing sinks and cooktops.

What products to avoid in protecting porcelain?
Do not use hydrofluoric acid or materials containing it.
Avoid products containing oils as they may leave a residue. You should rinse all products thoroughly.
If the surface comes into contact with any products that might damage it, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Check each cleaning product on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn’t damage the surface.
Which cleaning products are suitable for porcelain? Are Porcelain surfaces hygienic?
Your surface is engineered to be highly nonporous; as such, it is non-absorbent and does not host bacteria, mould, or mildew. As a result, it remains safe and fresh for ultimate cleanliness.
Which cleaning products are suitable for porcelain?
Use your regular home cleaning products or our range of specialised Caesarstone® products and check the product first by applying it to an inconspicuous area on the surface. It’s best to avoid using the same cloth you use for washing dishes, as it may transfer oils and other contaminants to your surface.
Cleaning for Porcelain finishes
Honed and Ultra Rough finishes are more prone to metal marks, fingerprints, and other signs of daily use, which can easily be removed with non-abrasive cleaning products such as Caesarstone® Spray Cleaner.

Is mineral surface fit for outdoor use?
The Caesarstone® Porcelain Collection, is our only outdoor collection suitable for outdoor application, made to withstand prolonged UV-ray exposure, and extreme weather.
What is a honed Vs. polished surface?
Our finishes give the surface its final look in terms of tactility (feel and touch), light reflection, and overall coming together of colour and pattern. It is determined by the depth of grounding that the slab undergoes in its final stages. Honed is a more matted sheen that has a flat, smoother texture, while polished gives off a highly reflective, bright shine.
Care and Cleaning
Can I stand on my Caesarstone® benchtop?
Always refrain from placing excessive weight on your Caesarstone® benchtop. Excessive weight can also have an impact on the underlying cabinet structure.
Can Caesarstone Mineral™ surfaces withstand heat?
Caesarstone Mineral™ is heat resistant, however like all stone materials, Caesarstone® can be damaged by sudden and rapid surface temperature changes. A good rule of thumb is that if your hand cannot tolerate the level of heat for more than a few seconds then the heat source is too high.
Do not put hot cookware directly on the Caesarstone Mineral™ surface.
Therefore, we always recommend placing hot pots, oven trays and fry pans directly from the oven or hot plate onto a wooden chopping board or heat trivet. We also recommend that electric fry pans, slow cookers and air fryers are also used on a wooden chopping board.
Do I need to apply a sealer to Caesarstone® mineral surfaces?
No. Caesarstone® mineral surfaces are virtually non-porous, and you will never have to use a sealer or any other kind of wax.
How durable is Caesarstone®?
Caesarstone® is resistant to all kinds of cracks, chips, scratches, and stains. However, like most materials, excessive force, high point loads, pressure or heat may cause damage to the surface. Like all surface materials, Caesarstone® should be treated with care.
Can I cut on my Caesarstone® mineral benchtop?
Caesarstone® mineral surfaces are highly durable, we recommend using a cutting board to prevent damage to the surface or knives.
Do I need to polish my Caesarstone® benchtop?
Caesarstone® surfaces come factory polished to a high lustre, with the exception of our special Concrete finish. Due to Caesarstone®’s high density and non-porous qualities, normal cleaning with a damp cloth will keep your Caesarstone® surface looking like the first day it was installed. To avoid dulling the surface's shine, make sure to use a non-abrasive cleaner such as Caesarstone® Cream Cleanser. For further detailed information on cleaning, refer to the Care & Maintenance page.
Do the Caesarstone® Concrete Finish designs require extra maintenance?
The Caesarstone® Concrete Finish designs are just as stain and scratch resistant as our polished surfaces.
However, the Concrete matte finish doesn't disguise marks as well as the polished designs, meaning more regular cleaning may be required using the Caesarstone® Cream Cleanser and Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Foam Scrubber to provide a thorough all-over surface clean. Importantly, thoroughly rinse off the Cream Cleanser after cleaning.
It's extremely important that a Caesarstone® Concrete benchtop is only ever wiped down using a clean cloth solely for that purpose. Don’t use a cloth used to wash dishes as it may impart oils and other contaminants to the concrete finish surface.
How do I clean my Caesarstone® benchtop?
Caesarstone® surfaces require very little maintenance to keep them looking like new. For everyday, routine cleaning of Caesarstone®, we recommend wiping the surface with warm soapy water (a mild detergent) and a clean damp cloth.
Do not use the cloth you use to wash the dishes, as it may transfer oils and other contaminants to the Caesarstone® surface.
As Caesarstone® is virtually non-porous, it will keep its lustrous gloss and ultra-smooth surface which never needs polishing or sealing. Never attempt to polish the surface and avoid prolonged rubbing in one spot when cleaning.
To give your Caesarstone® surface a thorough clean or for removal of extra stubborn marks or spills, we recommend using Caesarstone® Cream Cleanser and a Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Foam Scrubber which can be used without damaging the stone. We suggest using this cleaning process regularly depending on the amount of traffic, use and surface application.

Purchasing, Range and Pricing
How can I tell if my Caesarstone® is genuine?
To ensure the authenticity of your Caesarstone® surfaces, simply access the underside of your bench top and check the underside of the bench top for your genuine, authentic identification information.

When buying Caesarstone®, it is important to ask for the product by name and not accept any substitutes.
How can I tell what colour Caesarstone® I have?
All Caesarstone® slabs are branded on the underside of each slab, the 3 or 4-digit number denotes the colour code.
Can I buy my selection based on the sample chip or brochure only?
Caesarstone® is made from natural minerals and therefore some variation in colour and aggregate may occur. The colours in our brochures and sample chips provided only represent part of a slab and should only be used as an indication of actual product design.
We always recommend making a final colour selection by viewing displays of larger panels in our Caesarstone® Experience Centre to appreciate the movement of the design over a large surface.
Do all Caesarstone® colours cost the same?
The Caesarstone® collection comprises of five design collections at varying price points offering products for all budgets and design styles.
The range includes Standard, Deluxe, Premium, Supernatural, and Supernatural Ultra.
As Caesarstone® is strictly a wholesaler, we unfortunately do not provide pricing or quotes, but would be happy to assist by putting you in contact with your local interior designer / kitchen company or stonemason to obtain a formal quote.
Can I obtain a quote from Caesarstone® for my project?
As Caesarstone® is strictly a wholesaler we cannot provide a quote for your project. We highly recommend contacting your nearest kitchen retailer or stonemason instead to obtain a formal quote. To locate a Interior Design Firm nearest you, simply use our convenient Where to buy tool.
Chips and Repairs
A crack has appeared in my benchtop, is this covered under the 25-Year Warranty?
Cracking is generally not covered under the Caesarstone® 25-Year Warranty as it typically occurs due to a fabrication or installation error, or as the result of mechanical stress and does not represent a fault in the Caesarstone® product itself.
If a crack does occur, please contact the interior design company or stonemason who installed your bench top as they will be able to provide further assistance.
External factors which can contribute to cracking include:
- Inadequate underbench support
- Incorrect placement of cutouts and joins
- Lack of consideration for thermal expansion, thermal shock or excessive heat
- A severe impact
What should I do if I damage my Caesarstone®?
In the unlikely event that you damage your Caesarstone®, please take note of the batch numbers of authenticity located on the underside of your material, and contact us on 9011 3559 or contact us online.
Depending on the damage, one of our experienced technical representatives will be able to advise you of your options and possible solutions.
How can I protect my bench top from chipping?
While Caesarstone® is a very robust surface to begin with - stronger than both marble and granite in fact - there are simple measures you can take to ensure chipping doesn't occur.
- Sharp non-radiused edge profiles should never be used. Caesarstone® recommends a minimum radius of at least 3-4mm on any edge profile. The larger the radius, the more resistance the edge will have to impact.
- If the benchtop incorporates an undermount sink, then the top edge of Caesarstone® sink cut out must be a minimum radius of 6mm to minimise risk of chipping should a heavy pot hit this edge.
- Ensure cupboards and drawers are installed correctly and don't make contact with the Caesarstone® surface when opening and closing.
- Take care to not drop heavy items onto a Caesarstone® benchtop.
What should I do if I chip my Caesarstone Mineral™ surfaces?
Caesarstone Mineral™ surfaces can be easily repaired. Please call 9011 3559 to find out more.
Health and Safety
What is Caesarstone®?
Caesarstone® is the company that manufactures and distributes a range of engineered stone and porcelain surfaces for homes and businesses, such as kitchen benchtops. While the name Caesarstone® is commonly used to describe all engineered stone products, Caesarstone® is one brand of engineered stone.
Are Caesarstone® surfaces safe in my home?
Yes, completely. All engineered stone – and most stone materials such as slate, granite, sandstone, concrete, marble, and porcelain – contains some level of silica.
Material | Percentage of silica |
Marble and limestone | 2% |
Concrete | 20-40% |
Slate | 25-40% |
Granite | 20-45% |
Porcelain | ~40% |
Natural sandstone (found in tunnelling, mining, construction) | 70-95% |
Engineered stone | Up to 97% |
In its solid form – such as in installed engineered stone benchtops – silica is considered by experts to be perfectly safe. There is no risk to those choosing to have a Caesarstone® benchtop or surface in their home. Silica is only dangerous when released as dust through the fabrication of the stone – cutting, drilling, grinding, or polishing. In this process, workers exposed to silica dust through poor safety practices can develop serious health issues, including the lung disease silicosis.
Who fabricates engineered stone?
Caesarstone® sells its products in slab form to independent stonemasons, who cut and shape it to size for kitchen retailers, cabinet makers and builders. It is this process that releases silica dust, which can create risks for workers if it is not handled using proper safety equipment and procedures.
Is this process safe for stonemasons?
The risks of contracting silicosis from prolonged exposure to silica dust is well documented and understood. However, all silica-containing materials, including engineered stone, can be handled safely if proper equipment is used and proper procedures are followed. These include masks, ventilation, air monitoring and ‘wet cutting’, where water is used to suppress dust. In Singapore, there are clear standards in place for the safe handling of stone products.
When a stonemason makes modifications onsite, is this dangerous to the consumer?
Caesarstone® always recommends that fabrication of our products is performed in a controlled environment, such as a factory or workshop. When an installer decides that minor adjustments are necessary onsite, they must follow proper safety procedures, such as wet-cutting to eliminate dust.
What else is Caesarstone® doing to help?
Since it began operating in Singapore, Caesarstone® has consistently taken action to promote a safe engineered stone industry. These efforts have included clear product handling and safety guidelines, warnings on each of our products sold and ongoing education and training programs for stonemasons. Caesarstone® is also actively developing products that contain a lower percentage of silica. Caesarstone® has engaged extensively with government, work safety bodies and industry to help foster better understanding of the issues related to silicosis and to promote safer working conditions.
