Gully Kitchen and Bar sits on 31 Hong Kong Street, serving elevated street food from all over the world. We interviewed Angelina and Carolina Kumala, 2 of the co-founders of Gully, and here’s what they shared:
“We fell in love with the old-world charms of the shophouse and the central location and decided to start Gully here. The interior is a lush-meets-surf shack, with blue walls and white painted wooden beams, fairy lights but with discreet touches of gold and marble.
As you can see, our indoor space is limited. Majority of our seating is outdoor, which our customers prefer to enjoy the fresh breeze, food and music outside.
Initially we have these solid wooden tables located outside of the restaurant, and our awnings couldn’t cover them completely away from the harsh sun and storms. Over time these tables started warping and developing cracks that would catch onto sauces and food particles and became much harder to clean. “
